Speed Dating for Bloggers and Virginia Wine – WBC11 Live Wine Blogging Sessions
By now, I believe most of the ~190 Virginia wineries know the Wine Bloggers Conference (WBC11) is coming to Virginia this year. Beginning July 22, 2011, 325 wine bloggers, industry insiders, print journalists, wine PR professionals, wineries and even students will converge on Charlottesville, VA for WBC11. For three days, The Commonwealth will serve as the epicenter of the new media wine blogging world, which provides Virginia a great opportunity to introduce Virginia wine to an influential group of wine enthusiasts that have little experience (in some cases none) with Virginia wine.
WBC11 provides a great opportunity for Virginia wineries to share their story and wines with a large group of wine enthusiasts and influencers. There are a number of ways for Virginia wineries to get engaged and participate in WBC11. One of the most economical, and fun, ways is pouring at the ‘Live Wine Blogging’ session.
I participated in the Live Wine Blogging session at WBC 2009 in the Napa/Sonoma area (Santa Rosa, Dry Creek, etc…), and had a great time (recap post here).
From the WBC site… As part of the Live Wine Blogging sessions, bloggers will taste, review, and blog or Tweet about one of your wines, either white/rosè (Friday) or red (Saturday), all while hearing directly from you about your wine and winery. The event will be divided into tables of approximately seven participants. Each winery will have five minutes to pour one wine, give a short explanation, and answer questions while participant’s blog about the wine live. Wineries then rotate to a new table for a total of 12 tables. It’s a fast process (although slower than speed dating) but this format allows winemakers and conference participants the opportunity to interact in a small group setting.
Wineries can learn more about how to participate in the Live Wine Blogging sessions here. Get involved; take advantage of this opportunity to engage this group of wine enthusiasts.
