Holloran Winery is a small production winery based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Winemaker Jay Somers (also produces his own J Christopher label) practices organic farming and produced just under 1,000 cases of Holloran wines last year. Each of the Holloran Pinot Noirs are unfiltered and unfined.
Hollaran 2006 Pinot Noir
I had this wine at Fine Wine in Gaithersburg, MD. Paid $25.98 plus $10 in-store corkage fee.
I liked this Pinot quite a bit. The initial nose was filled with that Oregonyish sulfur aroma which burned off quickly. Once this one opened up, I got abundant cherry, strawberry and earth along with vanilla aromas. Well balanced. The tannins and red fruit worked well together. I found a pleasant mushroom component on the backend.
