Happy 4th Birthday Drink What You Like
If not for that ‘ting‘ sound a glass makes when lightly tapped with a piece of silverware I use for iCal reminders, this blog’s 4th birthday — like the 2nd and 3rd — would likely have been forgotten.
Four years ago today (or, yesterday) I started Drink What You Like wine blog with this post on June 29, 2008.
Since blogging about wine blogging is passé — and my goodness I don’t want to be passé — I won’t subject you to a ‘how much wine blogging has changed in the last four years‘ type of post.
I’m all about avoiding passé but not the cliche — so I will say that the last four years have flown by, literally.
Though not always evident from my postings here, I’ve learned a lot about the infinite subject of wine since my first post four years ago and am fortunate to have made some great friendships along the way. This blog is also responsible for exploring and developing a true appreciation for the wines of my home state as well as the passionate people that have made (and continue to make) the Virginia wine industry one of the most exciting emerging regions in the wine world.
In the spirit of not being passé or belaboring this small milestone too much, I would like to say thank you to all people that take their time to read Drink What You Like (even those few nosey co-workers
) and share their thoughts in the comments here. Cheers!
‘One more year of existence down the drain. Happy Birthday!’ ~ Unknown

Congrats – its hard enough to consistently keep a private journal (even if only of complete nonsense), much less to keep up with posting coherent thoughts for anyone to read. So on that note alone, cheers. And as for the wine bogging aspect, you bring a welcome voice to the arena, so here’s to another birthday next year. *clink*
Frank, this is impressive. I especially like your comment that your writing (and tasting of course!) has deepened your appreciation of wine, and I’d add, likely food also. For me, reading others’ impressions of wine, and food and wine pairings is fun, stimulating and adds to my own enjoyment of both. Being one of those “live to eat” people, this comments means a great deal! Here’s to many more years writing, eating and imbibing.
Congratulations Frank – I’m so glad blogging allowed us to meet
Happy Anniversary Frank! Your blog is one of the few I actually subscribe to and look forward to reading. Wine bloogging is a great common denominator. Glad we met because of it.
Congrats Frank. 4 years and counting. See you on the wine trail.
Happy Anniversary! I love reading your blog and it’s one of the ones to follow. Here’s to you next 4 years of interesting wine discovery!
Congrats! And best of luck during this next year.
Happy Anniversary! Hopefully, I will be there at some point as well….
